Money is always tight for college students. Rising tuition, less hours put in at work to focus on school, the high cost of childcare, or the cost of gas to get to class, have made scholarships a hot topic among college students. With this trend, MSCSA has had more and more quality applications submitted every semester for our Leadership Scholarship Program.
For the spring 2014 award, the MSCSA Leadership Scholarship program board took hours of group deliberation to come to a consensus over the recipients of the MSCSA and McCormick Leadership Scholarship. Many of the candidates have incredible stories and an immense amount of dedication to leadership both on campus and in their communities.
We would like to congratulate Gordon Craft, a multi-year MSCSA Leadership Scholarship recipient, who is receiving the McCormick Leadership Scholarship this year. Also, we would like to congratulate Cobly Abazs, April Alexander, Benjamin Larson, and Samantha Quant who are the MSCSA Leadership Scholarship recipients.
Thank you to everyone who applied and congratulations to the recipients. We look forward to hosting the MSCSA Leadership Scholarship Dinner and Silent Auction in January 2014 to highlight these incredible students. After many years of increased support at MSCSA Leadership Scholarship fundraisers, the scholarship board made a decision to increase the MSCSA Leadership Scholarship award to $1,000 starting with the fall 2014 award. Confident in the supporters of the scholarship, the board sees awards staying at $1,000 or more in the coming years.
